[더팩트｜서종열기자] 삼성그룹은 6일 오후 리제트 리가 창업주 고 이병철 회장의 손녀라는 사실을 확인해 준 미국 변호사의 의견에 대해 전면 부인한다는 입장을 반복했다. 삼성그룹은 리제트 리는 아무런 혈연관계가 없으며, 이에 따라 이병철 회장의 손녀가 아니라는 것.
특히 삼성그룹 측은 본보에 리제트 리 관련 자료를 보내왔으나 이것은 이미 지난 1일 리제트 리의 가족 대변인인 퀀텀립엔터테인먼트 측에 보낸 자료와 동일한 내용이었다.
삼성그룹은 이번 사건과 관련 삼성그룹과 오너 일가가 막대한 정신격 충격을 받고 있다고 밝혔다. 하지만 제임스 오웬 변호사에 따르면 리제트 리 측은 삼성그룹의 이 같은 해명에 대해 상당히 불쾌해하고 있는 것으로 알려졌다.
본보는 지난 6일 미국 오하이오주에서 리제트 리의 변호인인 제임스 오웬씨를 만나 확인한 결과 “리제트 리는 본인이 삼성가의 손녀가 분명하다”고 밝혔으며 “한국명은 이지영이고 1981년 한국에서 출생 후 입양됐다”고 밝혔다.

You and your office have falsely implied Ms. Lee's connection with Samsung's Lee family in the press release.

Your and your office's false statement has caused great distress and damage not only to Samsung's Lee family but also to Samsung's reputation.
We, therefore, kindly ask you to refrain from making any further false statements in the future regarding Ms. Lee's connection with Samsung's Lee family in order to avoid any unnecessary legal disputes.
